Mordechai Refuses his Nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize
Mordechai Vanunu has asked t be removed as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize because it was awarded to Israeli President Shimon Peres who he considers to be the father of the Israeli nuclear weapons project.
The peace activist and nuclear weapons expert Mordechai Vanunu who had recently revealed the Israeli nuclear project requested from the Nobel Peace Committee that they remove his name from the list of nominees for the prize. The NRK Norwegian channel tried to contact him but he refused to make a statement to the Norwegian press. According to the Head of the Committee Geir Lundestad in his statement to the NRK channel, in his letter to the committee Mordechai Vanunu claimed that he refused to be considered for a prize that had been awarded to Shimon Peres, who is considered to be the true father of the Israeli nuclear project. Lundestad further added that this was the first time the committee had met such a situation, although they had been subjected to threats and sometimes the return of the prize, but not a similar situation. Lundestad claimed that Vanunu would be confirmed on the list, with his refusal to be nominated for the prize duly noted, to be taken into consideration for further study. NRK
