Al Raed Re-Organizes Tartar Schools
With the support of the Islamic Development Bank, the Federation of Social Organizations “Al Raed” a member of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe initiated a project to refurbish Tartar schools, starting with those in more dire need, and providing them with the necessary tools and equipment.
In this context Dr.Ismail El Kady explained that the project aimed at activating the role of these schools in preserving the Tartar language and Islamic identity amongst the ranks of the students, the project entails both exterior and interior refurbishment as well as providing the schools with all their needs of up to date equipment and furnishings.
In an interview with the media office of Al Raed the principal of one of the Tartar national schools Zalfia Alhakimova said that the Tartar people were in need of many more schools due to their rising numbers after many of them returned to their homeland in recent years.
She added that many of the Tartar people resort to building small schools – more like houses – to teach their children along the lines of their traditions, because all the large schools were too far away.
There are 15 schools targeted by the project, spread over all the cities of the region, and most of them suffer from inadequate funds and a lack of official support from the government. This affects the performance of these schools and leads many Tartar families to register their children elsewhere.
